The project has developed, having for a background thinking, the city context and the social needs. People of Nicosia are using lot of the old town’s space as their parking’s for their cars. Very few Cypriots remain as residents into the old city. That’s maybe the reason for the focus issues that I have notice.

If I wasn’t a student and curious about what’s happening into the abandoned building of my site and the “back” open empty spaces, I would be one of those who just passing by and do not even notice what is happening there. There is an activation at those spaces people. Is an assumption that those people are maybe homeless, or narcotic addicted, or both.

After a research for the homeless people in Nicosia, many articles are speaking about homeless people that they are leaving in their old cars or abandoned buildings and their having some money for their food, but that doesn’t mean that is a problem that we should ignore. The District of 2nd Chance has the purpose, not only to accommodate the homeless and refugee people, but also to keep them socialized and creative, while keeping a friendly relationship with local people.
