The Department of Architecture, University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Movement of Life Cyprus, have the great privilege of hosting the international architect and specialist in the subject of Earth Architecture, Iliona Outram Khalili from the UK, for a first taste in the matters of Natural Building.

Iliona Khalili will give us a brief introduction on what is Earth Architecture and how we can create shelters and eco-villages based on the sandbag technique.

Iliona along with her husband, humanitarian architect Nader Khalili, developed the pioneer technology of Emergency Sandbag Shelters, which has been awarded with the award of Architecture Aga Khan for refugee shelters, and which today is used worldwide for creating earth dome homes.

*Though Iliona’s main language is English, the talk will be given in Greek with a parallel Power Point presentation in English.

*At the end of the talk, the audience will have the chance to discuss with Iliona and ask anything they want on the sandbag technique and Earth Architecture.
