In 2016 AA Athens Visiting School continues to examine the philosophy of phenomenology as a starting point in the architectural design. Structures of consciousness experienced from the first-person point of view will be coupled with the study shapes in action. The experience around an architectural object will act as the central point of ambience for the user’s space. Assessing the way by which natural formations are created and exist as active players in shaping their environment will be achieved via digital simulation. Forms and structures will be created with an aim to alter the feeling of their surrounding by being put into motion. A series of morphologies will be designed, informed by biomimetic form-finding methods through a bottom-up approach via various coding techniques. A 1:1 scale structure will be put together, enabling experience of built space and of building materials in their sensory aspects as a result of a series of initial testing models. These proposals will be applied through the combination of different software including among other Processing, Arduino and Rhino Grasshopper. For more information visit the programme’s site.

The programme is organized in a two-stage process:

Stage 1: Participants gain an understanding of formation processes in nature, coupled with core concepts related to design complexity. During this stage, basic and advanced tutorials on generative design algorithms and analysis tools will be provided. Building on its core methodology from its previous versions, AA Athens VS will perform as a team-based programme promoting collaboration and research. Participants will be introduced to advanced fabrication techniques.

Stage 2: Participants propose design interventions based on the skills and knowledge gained during the first stage. Study models of various scales will be produced, leading to the fabrication and assembly of a full scale working prototype which unifies the design goals of the programme.

The design agenda of AA Athens is linked to the AA Istanbul Visiting School, thus directly creating feedback on one another, allowing participation in either one or both Programmes.

Eligibility

The workshop is open to architecture and design students and professionals worldwide.

Accreditation

Participants receive the AA Visiting School Certificate with the completion of the Programme.

Το 2016, το AA Athens Visiting School συνεχίζει να εξετάζει την φιλοσοφία της φαινομενολογίας ως σημείο εκκίνησης στο αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό. Δομές αντίληψης από την ατομική οπτική γωνία θα συνδυαστούν με την μελέτη σχημάτων εν κινήσει. Η εμπειρία γύρω από ένα αρχιτεκτονικό αντικείμενο θα λειτουργήσει ως η κεντρική ιδέα ποιότητας για τον χώρο του χρήστη. Η αξιολόγηση του τρόπου με τον οποίο φυσικές μορφές δημιουργούνται και υπάρχουν ως ενεργά μέλη  που διαμορφώνουν το περιβάλλον τους θα επιτευχθεί μέσω ψηφιακής προσομοίωσης. Μορφές και δομές θα δημιουργηθούν με στόχο την διαισθητική μετατροπή του περιβάλλοντος χώρου τους όταν τίθενται εν δράση. Μία σειρά από μορφολογίες θα σχεδιαστούν με βάση βιομιμητικών τρόπων μορφοποίησης και μέσω μίας bottom-up προσέγγισησης χρησιμοποιώντας διάφορες αλγοριθμικές τεχνικές. Ένα αρχιτεκτονικό πρωτότυπο κλίμακας 1:1 θα συναρμολογηθεί, επιτρέποντας την εμπειρική γνώση του χτιστού χώρου και των υλικών κατασκευής ως αποτέλεσμα μίας σειράς αρχικών πειραματικών μοντέλων. Αυτές οι προτάσεις θα εφαρμοστούν μέσω του συνδυασμού διαφορετικών ψηφιακών προγραμμάτων συμπεριλαμβανομένου μεταξύ άλλων του Proxessing, Arduino και του Rhino Grasshopper. Το πρόγραμμα οργανώνεται σε δύο στάδια:

Στάδιο 1: Οι συμμετέχοντες αποκτούν κατανόηση της διαδικασίας σχηματισμού μορφών στη φύση, σε συνδυασμό με τις βασικές έννοιες που σχετίζονται με τον σχεδιασμό της πολυπλοκότητας. Κατά το στάδιο αυτό, παρέχονται βασικά και προηγμένα μαθήματα παραγωγικών αλγορίθμων σχεδιασμού και για εργαλεία ανάλυσης. Με βάση την μεθοδολογία από προηγούμενες εκδόσεις του, το AA Athens VS λειτουργεί ως μια ομάδα προωθώντας την συνεργασία και την έρευνα. Οι συμμετέχοντες εισάγονται σε προηγμένες τεχνικές κατασκευής.

Στάδιο 2: Οι συμμετέχοντες προτείνουν σχεδιαστικές παρεμβάσεις με βάση τις δεξιότητες και τις γνώσεις που αποκτήθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια του πρώτου σταδίου. Στο δευτερο στάδιο, παράγονται μοντέλα μελέτης διαφόρων μεγεθών, με στοχο την κατασκευή και συναρμολόγηση ενός πλήρους κλίμακας πρωτότυπο που ενοποιεί τους σχεδιαστικούς στόχους του προγράμματος.

Το AA Athens συνδεεται με το AA Istanbul Visiting School, δημιουργώντας άμεσα ανατροφοδότηση το ένα στο άλλο και επιτρέποντας τη συμμετοχή σε ένα ή και στα δύο προγράμματα.

Δυνατότητα Συμμετοχής

Το πρόγραμμα είναι ανοικτό σε φοιτητές και επαγγελματίες αρχιτεκτονικής και σχεδιασμού παγκοσμίως.

Πιστοποίηση

Με την ολοκλήρωση του Προγράμματος, οι συμμετέχοντες θα λάβουν επίσημη βεβαίωση  παρακολούθησης του Architectural Association Visiting School.

Αιτήσεις

Η προθεσμία για την υποβολή αιτήσεων λήγει στις 15 Μαϊου 2016. Δεν χρειάζεται portfolio ή βιογραφικό σημείωμα, παρά μόνο το έντυπο της αίτησης συμμετοχής με τα δίδακτρα. Για την ηλεκτρονική αίτηση ακολουθείστε τον παρακάτω σύνδεσμο:
